Explore the 12-Steps. Practice them in your Body.
Embodied Recovery is a 12-week series that brings together the wisdom of the 12 Steps with yoga, nervous system regulation, meditation, mindfulness, and yoga philosophy.
Each week, we'll explore one Step in order.
The first half of each session will follow the familiar structure of a 12-Step meeting. We'll explore the week's Step, share our experiences, listen to one another, and talk about how the Step is showing up in our lives and our recovery.
During the second half, we'll take the work out of our heads and into our bodies. Through yoga, movement, breath, meditation, mindfulness, and nervous system regulation practices, we'll explore what it means to embody the principles we're talking about.
We'll practice getting present and noticing what's happening inside of us. We'll learn tools for working with activation, discomfort, difficult emotions, and the physical ways we hold stress and tension. We'll practice pausing before automatically reacting, staying present with ourselves, and creating enough space to make a different choice.
We'll also explore how yoga philosophy intersects with the Steps through principles such as non-harming, truthfulness, self-study, acceptance, integrity, letting go, and surrender.
The physical practice will be accessible and designed to meet you where you are. No previous yoga experience is necessary.
